‘Advantage You’ film offers an insight to the physical and emotional demands required by elite tennis players Samantha Stosur and Gaël Monfils on their journey to self-improvement
ASICS has today released its latest video which explores how today’s tennis is harder, faster and longer than ever before. The video highlights the physical demands that go into every athlete’s performance proving that “tennis is not just a game, it’s a race”.
Produced by 180 Amsterdam, the motivational video is narrated by ASICS global tennis ambassadors Samantha Stosur (2011 US Open Champion) and Gaël Monfils (2008 French Open Semi Finalist). The video positions tennis in a different light, showing the demands required of modern players as it explores their experiences; “It’s a race against something that moves at 193Kph”, “Sprint 100m in 10.8 seconds” and “the race lasts 5 hours, 5 sets, 6.5 Km”.
The short video highlights the way the modern day game is becoming physically and mentally tougher on those competing, as well as putting extra demand on the product they wear. At the ASICS Institute of Sport Science, Kobe, Japan, ASICS is continually working on new technologies to help improve the athlete’s performance.
As a result, ASICS is the fastest growing brand on the tennis market and is currently ranked in the top three tennis footwear brands. The brand also recently jumped to the number one position in Spain. On a product level, ASICS has been internationally recognized for the GEL-Solution Speed 2 – one of the lightest tennis shoes on the market and it was recently awarded ‘Best Game Day Shoe’, demonstrating the brands expertise in core performance sports.
As part of ASICS’ continued growth in the tennis market, ASICS UK has recently signed rising tennis star and current British number 2, Johanna Konta. As part of her role, the British professional who is currently ranked 114 in the world, will help promote ASICS’ tennis footwear and apparel collection.
The print and film campaign ‘Advantage You’ is part of ASICS’ 2014 ‘Better Your Best’ global campaign and targets this seasons upcoming events including the French Open and Wimbledon.
The below-the-line video will be delivered across social media platforms and hosted on the brand’s YouTube channel as of May 12th. A special TV-edit featuring Gaël Monfils will also be broadcast in prime spots on Eurosport during the French Open, as well as being aired on national French TV channels.
