The Stables Fitness & Wellbeing is a new concept in fitness and wellbeing, located just off the M11 near Gorey, Co Wexford. It can be found tucked away up a serene, leafy avenue in lovingly converted farm buildings. It boasts its own running track or ‘Steeplechase’ a climbing wall and various studios for Fitness Training, Yoga and Pilates. This venue is far more than a gym. The Stables offers a mix of classes and workshops, which promote physical and mental wellbeing.
Six years ago Anna Syme found herself at a career crossroads, a new mum and Chartered Surveyor by trade she was facing a daily commute to Dublin and the challenges which accompany it. She made a brave move and decided to qualify as a personal trainer. She converted one of the beautiful farm buildings on her husbands’ family farm into a training studio and tentatively opened for business as Anna Syme Personal Training.
Her vision was to create a distinctive and attractive environment, which would entice people to get active and keep fit. The serene beauty of the 250 year old farm buildings surrounded by mature oak and beech trees coupled with Anna’s dedication, expertise and talent for providing fun and varied training opportunities for her clients has seen her business go from strength to strength. Under re-branded “The Stables Fitness & Wellbeing,” Anna now provides a number of different courses and classes.
2017 has been a milestone year with Anna employing 3 people part time and the construction of a trail running track and obstacle course for the use of her regular and corporate clients. “The Steeplechase” will be launched to the public in June 2018 as an annual fitness event. The 5km and 8km courses offer a unique trail run over undulating terrain with some challenging obstacles thrown in to test agility, strength and endurance. It promises to be a challenging and fun event. More information on this will be released in the new year.
Another huge success this year was the launch of the kids summer fitness camps, which saw 80 children taking part in obstacle courses, healthy eating workshops (smoothie making) and fun filled fitness challenges over 2 weeks in the summer holidays. The camps offer a unique chance for children to get outside and become more conscious of their health and wellbeing, Easter and Summer camps will definitely be on the calendar for next year.
The Stables currently offers an exciting program of classes including Personal Training, Group Fitness Classes, Pilates and Yoga (including pregnancy yoga). Recently added classes include Mother and Baby fitness classes, after school Kids Fitness Classes and Men only Pilates.
The Stables has expanded, but the warm welcome and dedicated attention which clients receive from the trainers here has remained the same. Just ask some of the clients who have been training with Anna and her team over the last 5 years!
