The world’s most colourful 5km will partner with Coole FC Soccer Club for Run or Dye at Galway’s Lough Cutra Castle. Taking place for the second year in the beautiful grounds of the house on Saturday 12th September, Gort in Galway will play host to the colour filled 5km run with volunteers from Coole FC ensuring the day is filled with colour and fun.
Coole FC are a soccer club based in the town of Gort. The club was founded in 2009 and its aim is to promote soccer for all ages in the South Galway area and to provide a safe and fun environment for children to learn and participate in team competitions at all levels. Coole FC is managed and run by volunteers and entirely funded by charitable donations and sponsorship from local business.
Carlos McEvoy, at Coole FC says, “We are delighted to have been invited to participate in Run or Dye again this year at Lough Cutra Castle. Everyone had a brilliant time last year and we are looking forward to getting involved and all of us getting as colourful as possible. The event is a brilliant way to get young people to be active and get into sport whilst having fun at the same time.”
Close to the town of Gort, Lough Cutra Castle and Estate has a long and varied history. The countryside surrounding Lough Cutra contains much evidence of a history dating back to the Tuatha Da Danann.
Hundreds have already entered into Galway Run or Dye, participants are encouraged to run, jog or walk to the finish line, getting covered head-to-toe in colour as they go. Four Dye Zones throughout the route will ensure there’s no getting away from the all-encompassing and full-on brilliance of the most colourful 5km in the World.
Inspired by the ancient Hindu festival of Holi, also known as the ‘Festival of Colours’, Run or Dye gives runners, walkers and all speeds in-between, the opportunity to experience and celebrate in full colour the thrill of the Festival and introduce the idea of ‘living life on purpose’. Participants can run dressed in white and run ready or their favourite and most extravagant costumes. As part of registration all participants will receive a goody bag with their white t-shirt, their very own dye packs and plenty more to get geared up for the most colourful 5km ever experienced.
After crossing the finish line, runners, and spectators, can celebrate in the world famous Dye Festival as the full force of the brilliant colours are blasted all around. The explosion of dye ensures that this really is the most colourful 5km in the world!
