- Damien Duff helps launch Beacon Hospital’s new sports medicine programme with the Leinster Senior Football League (LSL)
- New programme will allow Leinster Senior League players immediate access to top sports medicine experts
Irish football legend Damien Duff joined Beacon Hospital yesterday evening to launch its new sports medicine initiative with the Leinster Senior Football League.
Previously, access to treatment for injured players in the Leinster Senior Football League could take a significant amount of time and was costly in many cases. Now, players injured during LSL training or matches will have quick access to internationally renowned sports medicine experts at Beacon Hospital. Both JLT and AIG have signed up as insurance partners on the programme, so the bulk of injury related medical expenses will be covered, reducing costs for players.
Beacon Hospital offers best in class treatments for injury prevention and management, with a multi-disciplinary or team-based approach. Beacon’s Sports Medicine facility allows for rapid player access to sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic consultants and physiotherapy and radiology services.
Michael Cullen, CEO of Beacon Hospital said:
“We’re delighted to partner with the Leinster Senior Football League to launch the first ever player injury programme of its kind in Ireland. We’ve offered sports medicine and orthopaedic services for the past 10 years at Beacon Hospital, steadily growing the service over the past number of years. Whether you play sport professionally or just enjoy jogging for fitness, injuries can be quite common and we are happy to be able to offer a best in class service here. We plan to continue growing our sports medicine facility over the coming years.”
Dr Alan Byrne, Consultant in Sports and Exercise Medicine at Beacon Hospital said:
“This new programme will offer players quick and easy access to expert sports medicine, orthopaedic, radiology and rehabilitation services under one roof at Beacon Hospital. As with all patients, injury management plans will be developed on a player specific basis offering them the ability to access a range of services.
David Moran, Chairman of Leister Senior Football League said:
“Injuries can be very stressful for players, so we’re delighted to partner with the Beacon Hospital on this new programme. The ability to offer our players quick and affordable access to world-class sports medicine experts will lead to improved outcomes and will allow them to make successful returns to sport and work.”
