Exercising on a regular basis is essential for good health, but if you’re struggling to find the energy to go to the gym or pound the pavement, you may be in need of an energy boost. However, are we taking the right form of energy when we need it?
Research among 2,000 UK adults aged 20-50, for Red Kooga a leading natural remedy which helps promote vitality, energy and mental alertness, reveals that coffee (46%), sugar (36%) and energy drinks (24%) are top of mind when thinking about boosting energy. Yet the respondents noted negative effects of taking such stimulants such as sudden heart palpitations (59%), physical shakes (40%) and feeling dizzy and lightheaded (30%). Interestingly, only 1% of respondents thought of getting an energy boost from herbal or botanical supplements and only 0.7% use a herbal supplement when needing an energy boost.
Respondents noted the importance of taking extra energy during the day to have the drive to do things outside of work (19%) with a further 13% wanting an energy boost to get more out of the exercise they do.
When it comes to maintaining energy levels, 26% of the Red Kooga survey participants pointed to the importance of good circulation saying that it is linked to stable energy levels. A similar proportion (25%) also said that good circulation helps to keep them alert and enables them to concentrate, while more than a third (35%) said that good circulation ensures the upkeep of healthy organs and muscles. Overall, seven out of 10 (70%) participants said that good circulation is vital for health. Worryingly, however, 30% had no idea of the importance of good circulation.
For those who are aware, one in five (19%) exercise on a regular basis to help increase their circulation, 22% drink lots of water and 18% stretch daily.
Personal trainer Beth Finch says: “Exercising on a regular basis is vital for good health but many of us sacrifice exercising because we are feeling tired and the thought of going for a run or to a class seems near impossible.”
“While the survey found that coffee, sugar and energy drinks are top-of-mind when trying to boost energy levels, people are starting to question their choices following an increasing interest in nutrition partnered with the recent sugar debate. While a sugary treat can be tempting pre or post workout, the calories can make your exercise redundant. So it’s crucial to get the energy in a healthy, natural way. Herbs such as Panax Ginseng are a great natural alternative for promoting energy, but with the survey finding that less than 1 in 100 (0.7%) use a herbal remedy, it would appear that Brits know little about their value.”
“Studies show that Panax Ginseng can reduce fat oxidation and inflammatory activity in exercising skeletal muscle and reduce muscle damage during and after exercise. The herb also regulates glucose levels which is the primary fuel used by both the brain and body and is essential for maintaining physical performance and cognitive function.”
“Red Kooga Natural Energy Release combines top quality Panax Ginseng with the guarana herb to provide a gentle way to help you feel sharp and alert so is a great product to keep close by when your energy levels are low.”
“It is also concerning to see that 45% of respondents do nothing to improve circulation despite 70% noting its importance. Good circulation is crucial for exercise as it allows nutrients such as oxygen to reach the muscles, which helps warm them up and repair them when needed. Poor circulation can lead to muscle cramps, dizziness and heart problems so it should be a top priority for everyone.”
“Red Kooga Korean Ginseng and Ginkgo Biloba Tablets provide an easy way to boost both energy and circulation, as Panax Ginseng promotes vitality and the Ginkgo Biloba herb helps to support healthy circulation.”
Alongside physical benefits, studies also show that Panax Ginseng improves mental performance and fatigue and improves calmness. Panax Ginseng also contains ginsenosieds which have a wide variety of pharmacological effects including stimulating the central nervous system, anti-inflammatory activity, antihistamine activity, analgesic activity and hypertensive and hypotensive activity.
Red Kooga makes a range of trusted ginseng products to promote vitality and maintain mental alertness.
