Food Summit in partnership with Good Food Ireland is returning to Web Summit for the third year running.
Here, foodies and techies will unite: there’ll be 47 Irish artisan food producers and other quality vendors, including well-known chefs keeping the Web Summit speakers, entrepreneurs, investors and general attendees well fed and happy.
There’ll be a street festival-like atmosphere, with quirky Irish food producers offering artisan meals, such as farm produced crisps, handmade ice-cream and elderflower cordial. We’ve handpicked the selection so you can be assured that you’re getting a taste of Ireland’s best.
We’ll also have producer tastings at the Good Food Ireland Pop Up Irish Artisan Food Shop in Herbert Park. And attendees can ship their favourite products home. Here you can savour the flavour of Ireland’s unique farm produced food from our top producers over the three days of the Web Summit.
Food Summit will also offer a quintessential Irish culinary food experience for attendees with specially devised dishes such as Irish farm reared meats, fresh fish and seafood from Irish waters, and a wealth of artisan and farmhouse specialities.
Attendees might be tempted by The Market Butchers’ 28-day dry-aged Lambay Island Beef Burger; or talented chef Robbie Krawczyk’s Tankardstown twist on Bacon and Cabbage – Smoked Pork loin Kasseler, Sauerkraut, and burnt Apple Puree; or Martin Shanahan’s, of RTÉ and Fishy Fishy Restaurant, Grilled Escalope of Organic Irish Salmon, Sourdough Bap, Pickled White Cabbage, Roast Red Pepper dressed with Sweet Potato Chips. Let’s take a closer look at some of the highlights from the producers coming to Food Summit:
Jane Russell – Sausage Maker
Jane has followed in her great great grandfather’s footsteps. He was a butcher named Edmund Burke who was well known for his handmade sausages. Today, Jane creates Bord Bia approved, juicy sausages inspired by those recipes passed down through generations.
Siobhan and Paul Lawless – Artisan Bakers
They didn’t set out to start a food business, but Siobhan and Paul started making healthy baked goods for their family and it naturally grew into one. ‘The Foods of Athenry’ still operates out of the family home. They specialise in baking for restricted diets, so if you’re vegan or Celiac you’ll want to check them out.
John Commins – Beef Farmer
John introduced Italian Piedmontese cattle to Tipperary and Laois, where they are grass fed all year round. The meat from this cattle has become a hit with Irish chefs thanks to the fact that it is naturally lower in fat and cholesterol than standard beef.
Other producers providing food include:
Anthony Creswell – Master Smoker
Alan and Valerie Kingston – Dairy Farmers
Maxine Hyde – Relish Producer
Dermot Walsh – Master Baker
Donal and Michael Bermingham – Master Butchers
Hilda Sheridan – Artisan Pizza Maker
Des Jeffares – Blackcurrant grower
With high calibre chefs and producers coming to Food Summit from the four corners of Ireland, you’re sure to find something to your taste. Tokens for Food Summit will be available for purchase at Web Summit.
