Other speakers on the day included: Head of athletic performance and science, IRFU, Nick Winkelman; extreme environment athlete, Gavan Hennigan; performance expert, Gerry Duffy; Head of performance nutrition for Team Ireland at Rio 2016, Dr. Sharon Madigan; Waterford hurling manager, Derek McGrath and Olympic modern pentathlon athlete, Natalya Coyle.
Speaking at Huddle Dublin, Racing 92 defence coach and former Irish international, Ronan O’ Gara gave an insight into leadership and how to inspire teams: “The day you stop growing, you’re done. You have to dedicate your life to success, you have to be obsessed and driven by your career. In all team sports and organisations, it’s important to know your role, have an identity but most importantly don’t forget that the superstars are not the heartbeat of the organisation. You can never take your subs for granted – the starters are not going to be able to perform without the entire unity of the squad.”
Huddle is the first conference of its kind to take place in Ireland. Huddle Dublin brought together athletes, coaches and other influencers from the world of sport. The key aim of Huddle Dublin is for people to learn from and be inspired by those involved in top level sport.
Ireland’s leading businesses including HP, KBC, HubSpot, Intercom, Irish Life, Jazz Pharma, Paddy Power Betfair, Ulster Bank, Alkemeres and Dalata attended on the day.
