Today, MedApp Ltd launched Ireland’s first hay fever app, Hay Fever Relief. It allows sufferers determine the severity and nature of their aliment and immediately advises them on the best treatment. Hay Fever Relief draws on Dr Paul Carson’s 30 + years’ experience treating hay fever sufferers and allergy patients.
An estimated 85% of hay fever sufferers self-medicate. The Hay Fever Relief app provides detailed insight to pollen allergy misery. By inputting symptoms, sufferers can have their hay fever symptoms graded by severity. The app then recommends the best treatment. This can be shared with their pharmacist for quick and efficient medication relief. Hay Fever Relief has been launched to coincide with the rise in pollen count that takes place at this time of year and which reaches a peak in Ireland during summertime.
Commenting on the launch of Hay Fever Relief, Dr Paul Carson said: “Many sufferers develop a coping mechanism for hay fever. They become accustomed to living a compromised quality of life. With the number of hay fever sufferers in Ireland growing (now estimated at 24% of the population), younger generations are suffering more severe attacks. This app allows users take control of their condition giving them an accurate read on the severity and nature of their hay fever. They can then discuss the apps recommendations with their pharmacist and start to plan for immediate pollen allergy relief.”
The app will also provide information on pollen counts nationally and internationally, helping sufferers to anticipate bouts of hay fever even when travelling abroad. Hay Fever Relief is a minimal text, maximum imagery product, allowing users explore 3D imagery of the nose, sinuses, ears and chest during pollen allergy crises.
With over one million pollen allergy sufferers in Ireland, the Hay Fever Relief app will educate, inform and empower those affected.
Commenting further on the launch of Hay Fever Relief, Dr Paul Carson said: “The treatment of allergies and especially hay fever is an under-resourced area of the health service. Indeed internationally the number of trained allegists dealing with the worldwide allergy epidemic is disappointingly low. This app will help educate, inform and empower hay fever sufferers giving them the best possible guidance without going to a doctor.”
Dr. Paul Carson has been involved in allergy management for 30 + years. He is the author of six popular health books dealing with allergy problems (including Hay Fever – how to beat it) and has written numerous articles on allergy management for medical journals. He is a member of the British Society for Allergy & Clinical Immunology, The European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology and is on the board of the Irish Lung Foundation.
“I’ve explored the quality of medical apps available and am convinced this is going to be the best ever. It will set the benchmark for all other medical apps. They’ll have to be as good asHay Fever Relief or better. And I doubt if anyone will better this product. All involved are very proud of the end result.”
