The “Kerryman Dingle Marathon” 2010 has attracted huge overseas interest with 32% of the marathons current entries hailing from countries from as far as New Zealand, Malaysia and the United States. On race day the marathon is expecting over 2,500 participants, bringing in an estimated €1.5 million in extra revenue to the area.
The course will see athletes partake in a unique run passing beautiful scenery, idyllic villages and historical sites, providing a natural lift of spirit for all the runners. This year the “Kerryman Dingle Marathon” is offering its participants the choice of the full marathon (26.2 miles), half marathon (13.1 miles) or new to this year, the Ultra marathon (50 miles).
Renowned motivational speaker, Gary Leboff, is hosting a seminar on the Friday night before race day for all registered runners. Leboff, a world class business coach and sports psychologist, will provide a unique insight into the tools of achievement, providing the Dingle marathon runners with the tolls to achieve outstanding results.
Race organisers have made an appeal to the public for volunteers for the event. An estimated 300 are needed to help with everything from the pre-race setup of the starting and finish lines, registration, and manning water stations to chip removal at the finish line and clean up. If you are interested in volunteering in this year’s Dingle marathon please call Tadhg on 066 9796898 or email him at tadhg@approved.ie.
