Water Babies Launch “Splashathon” Fundraising Week

March 27, 2015 by admin

SplashathoonWater Babies, Ireland’s leading baby and toddler swim school is delighted to launch Water Babies Splashathon 2015, a sponsored swim for babies and toddlers which will take place at Water Babies classes between Saturday 18th  – Sunday, 26th  April 2015.

Water Babies Splashathon will raise vital funds for our national charity partner The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation and local charities including The Children’s Unit in Cork University Hospital, Hand in Hand based in Galway which helps the families’ of young cancer patients and the Kilkenny branch of Down Syndrome Ireland.   Water Babies Splashathon is a fantastic fun way to make a real and lasting difference to sick children and children with special needs around the country.

During Water Babies Splashathon fundraising week, babies and toddlers across the country will complete sponsored challenges in Water Babies classes, from swimming solo underwater to swimming through a hoop, baby and parent gliding together through the hoop  or even completing a ‘Splashathon’ circuit challenge in the pool!

Therese McNally from Water Babies said “Water Babies Splashathon has raised almost €100,000 euros since we launched Water Babies in Ireland six years ago and we are confident that since Water Babies has grown nationally with classes now in Dublin, Louth, Kildare, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Cork, Kerry, Sligo, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Carlow and Kilkenny, we will be able to add significantly to this figure and raise much needed funds for our charities.”

Anna Daly from TV3’s Ireland AM and Evanne Ní Chuilin from RTE Sport supported the launch of Water Babies Splashathon by taking a dip at St Michael’s House with Water Babies pupils and teachers.

Jonathan Irwin CEO of Jack & Jill said. ‘We are so proud and honoured to be one of the recipient charities for Waterbabies Splashathon and every cent raised will fund vital home nursing hours for sick children in every community in Ireland.  On Jack’s behalf and on behalf of all the families we support today, I thank all involved.”

During Water Babies classes of the week commencing Saturday, 18th  April to Sunday, 26st April, Water Babies instructors will be setting special Splashathon challenges as part of our Water Babies swimming lesson which will be related to the level that babies are swimming at.  And children will be invited to dress in a circus theme.

Water Babies has fabulous prizes for the top Splashathon fundraisers including a free Water Babies course, a Skellig’s Chocolate Hamper, a €100 voucher for Yamamori Sushi, a Pom Bear Hamper, a Lily O’Brien’s Hamper and a year’s subscription to Netflix.
