A.C.T. Dublin will be officially launched on Saturday, 11th January by its
Patron, the internationally renowned acupuncturist and midwife, Sarah
Budd. She will present a training day entitled “An in-depth look at the
last phase of pregnancy and the three stages of labour. What
acupuncturists can offer couples, including preparation for labour,
induction of labour and pain relief in labour.”
A.C.T. (Acupuncture Childbirth Team) Dublin is a group of established and
registered practitioners which was formed in response to the growing
number of patients using acupuncture for fertility, pregnancy, childbirth
and paediatrics. The group works alongside, and in collaboration with, the
fertility, maternity and paediatric services provided within Dublin.
A.C.T. Dublin aims to provide the highest quality of training in these
areas to its members and to support both members and their patients in
promoting acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) to the public
and other healthcare providers.
A.C.T. Dublin Patron, Sarah Budd, held the first and only full-time post
as acupuncture midwife in the UK and set up a service in Plymouth
Maternity Unit where over 6,000 pregnant women were treated with
acupuncture. “We are honoured to have Sarah Budd as our Patron”, says
Deirdre Souchere, Chairperson of A.C.T. Dublin. ”We hope that she will
actively contribute to the training of A.C.T. Dublin members. It is our
aim to generate greater expertise and specialisation amongst practitioners
in the areas of fertility, pregnancy and childbirth.”
A.C.T. Dublin will host an inaugural launch dinner at Odessa Restaurant
after the inaugural training day.
