Unique iPhone app and online service to Help Support Accurate Record Keeping & Timely Vaccination of Children is now expanded for Android users
Irishhealth.com and Aptaclub (a support service with expert advice and relevant information for parents and mums-to-be) are pleased to announce that the award winning Child Immunisation Tracker app for parents is now also available for Android users. The tracker is the first service of its kind in Ireland and was designed to help parents keep track of their children’s vaccination history while also sending them timely reminders of when a further vaccination is due. With the latest outbreak of measles occurring last week in Cork, parents are being reminded to ensure that their children are vaccinated. The MMR vaccine protects against mumps, measles and rubella. The Immunisation tracker helps busy parents keep track of their child’s immunisation schedule and in addition, a live feed of child health news and alerts on disease outbreaks are also sent to parents when relevant. The tool is available online via the Irishhealth.com website or can be downloaded at no cost from the iTunes store and is now available for Android users also. For parents who do not have Androids or iPhones, a free web-based email reminder service is now available as part of this initiative.
The tool was created in response to the growing challenge faced by parents of keeping track of the increased number of vaccinations that children are required to receive. Since its launch last year the tool has proved very popular with parents.
Gillian O’Brien Medical Brand Manager Aptamil said: “Over the past year the app has been a very successful tool for parents and we’re delighted to be able to extend the tracker for use on Android phones also. We know that vaccination has a critical role to play in prevention of illness amongst children and we know how difficult it can be for parents to keep track of vaccination requirements. The recent outbreak in Cork highlights the importance of ensuring your child is vaccinated and the Immunisation Tracker makes it simple for parents to proactively manage their child’s health and their vaccination schedule”.
John Gibbons, publisher, Irishhealth.com commented: “we are delighted to be able to extend availability of this popular and practical service to parents using Android smartphones, as this platform is rapidly gaining in market share in Ireland. Busy parents need all the help they can get in managing their baby’s vital health needs, and the Child Immunisation Tracker is smart, simple to use, and best of all, free of charge”.
The tracker provides a personalised vaccination schedule listing all of the current childhood vaccinations, when they are due and what they are for, as well as useful background information about the benefits of each immunisation and why they are important. All information is based on the most up to date vaccination guidelines for Ireland by the Royal College of Physicians.
