Teams are now signing up for the new-look Oxfam Trailtrekker event which takes place on Saturday June 15th.
Along with the introduction of a 25km route alongside the popular 50km option, the event has a lower fundraising threshold, a summer date and welcomes teams of between three and six members.
Finishing with a big party in Carlingford, the new 25km looped route takes in the scenic Cooleys while the more challenging 50km trek begins in Newcastle, Co. Down, and takes in the stunning Mourne Mountains.
David Nixon, Oxfam Ireland’s Director of Fundraising and Business Development, said: “This is our fifth year of Trailtrekker and we are delighted to introduce the 25km Trailtrekker route. This enjoyable team challenge will test your stamina and fitness and is the perfect opportunity to get a team together and get active for a great cause.”
From complete novices to seasoned hill-walkers, hundreds of people from all walks of life will raise vital funds for Oxfam’s work around the world including emergency support in times of crisis to long-term development projects, along with campaigning that helps people speak out together.
The minimum fundraising commitments for each participant are €265 (25km event), the equivalent of providing temporary shelter for four families forced to leave their homes because of conflict, and €385 (50km event), which could help to provide safe drinking water for more than 400 people in an emergency.
