The Cryo™Clinic at Whites of Wexford Hotel is delighted to announce that two of Ireland’s brightest track and field athletes Brian Gregan and Ciara Everard have become brand ambassadors for the clinic. The clinic, the first ever cryotherapy clinic in Ireland and the UK, has been treating top professional athletes and amateur sports people since it first opened in 2007, and continues to be a major facility for the treatment of injury and muscle recovery. Brian and Ciara will join a host of other top athletes to represent the clinic, including former Irish rugby international Bernard Jackman and Irish track and field star David Gillick.
Whole-body cryotherapy (WBCT), considered to be the most important breakthrough in sports injury treatment available anywhere in Western Europe, is the stimulating use of extremely low temperatures of –10, -60 and –110 degrees. This process is carried out in less than 3-4 minutes using the cryochamber. The process is applied to the whole surface of the body in order to develop defensive reflexes and reactions that are therapeutically beneficial and effective in restoring an athlete’s natural balance.
Countless studies have revealed that cryotherapy can reduce pain, increase muscle strength and performance and improve joint function, as well as achieving an overall faster return to fitness for athletes. Not only does it aid in the repair of the body but has also been found to have numerous beneficial effects on the psyche, including decreased levels of anxiety and irritability. It is also believed to increase clarity and decision making skills, increase kinetic and visual coordination, as well as increasing emotional control.
Speaking at the announcement, Cryo™Clinic ambassador Brian Gregan said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked to become an ambassador for the Cryo™Clinic at Whites of Wexford. I’m fully aware of the benefits of the treatment, as many top athletes are using cryo more and more to keep themselves in top shape and help speed up the recovery process. I’m having a very busy year and hope to do well at the World Championships in Athletics in Moscow in two weeks’ time, so with the help of my coach and the team at the Cryo™Clinic I should be in really good condition.’
Adding to this, Cryo™Clinic ambassador Ciara Everard said: ‘It’s fantastic to represent such a facility. I really enjoyed meeting the team at the Cryo™Clinic – they are experts in assessing and treating sporting injuries and have helped so many athletes recover from tough injuries. Unfortunately I am injured at the moment, but with the help of the team I hope to be back on the track and in good condition soon.
Peter Wilson, general manager of Whites of Wexford, added; “Our Cryo™Clinic has helped many sporting athletes return to the top of their game and we want to continue that tradition. We really are thrilled to have Brian and Ciara as our new ambassadors; they are both incredibly talented and dedicated athletes, and we look forward to forming a great relationship with them.”
