Ladies, have you ever day-dreamed of wearing your wedding dress again?
Well, now you can, and it’s all in the name of a good cause! Special Olympics Ireland has teamed up with Tan Organic and Galway Shopping Centre to bring the ever popular “Bridal Race” back to Ballybrit Racecourse. The fun-filled event takes place on the first day of the summer racing festival on Monday, July 29th 2013.
Brides of all ages are wanted to strut one furlong. It’s just 200 metres and very manageable in that special dress! And the good news is marriage certificates not necessary. So, even if you haven’t been up the aisle, you can join in the fun. The only requirement on the day is a bridal-type gown.
To get involved in this fun event, entrants are required to raise €175 in sponsorship for Special Olympics Connaught. Places are limited so register early to avoid disappointment. An exclusive prize will be awarded for the most stylish bride on the big day as well as a prize for the first bride past the post. Additionally, a prize will be presented to the best fundraiser.
All participating ladies receive on the day, admission to the races, champagne reception as well as a four course meal. A racecard, a racing tipster, a reserved table in the Killanin Stand, and complimentary parking.
Launching the “Bridal Race”, Mairead Ni Chuaig TG4 said: “I am delighted to be involved in launching this year’s Bridal Race. It is a fabulous event supporting a fantastic charity and I would urge everyone to register to take part on the day.”
Michael Carty, Regional Fundraising Co-Ordinator with Special Olympics Connaught, said the return of the “Bridal Race” was testament to the event’s great success last year. “Ladies enjoy dressing up to attend race meetings, so we thought why not give them another chance to wear the most special dress in their wardrobe.
”If the launch photoshoot is anything to go by, it’s going to be a really enjoyable day! It was a laugh-a-minute with only five brides, so we can just imagine the excitement with many groups of friends participating in wedding attire. These fundraising events are vital to Special Olympics. Last year, we were overwhelmed by the amount of support we received and we are hoping this year’s event is just as successful.”
Ian Stewart, Marketing Manager from event sponsors, TanOrganic, commented: “TanOrganic are delighted to be working with Special Olympics Ireland and we hope that the Bridal Race at the Galway Races is a tremendous success and raises much needed funds for Special Olympics Ireland and their inspirational athletes.”
To register for this event, please complete the registration form below, and donate your registration fee of €25 here. (Remainder of sponsorship must be submitted on race day.)
