Neven Maguire to Host Free First 1,000 Days Cookery Demonstrations

August 22, 2013 by newsdesk

As part of the First 1,000 Days movement, celebrity chef and dad, Neven Maguire will team up with Danone Baby Nutrition to host a series of free cooking demonstrations focusing on recipes that will help Mums and Mums-to-be during the First 1,000 Days of their child’s life.

The First 1,000 Days movement is aiming to drive awareness of the importance of correct nutrition during the First 1,000 Days of life, from pregnancy to 2 years of age. Good nutrition during this time offers parents a unique window of opportunity to secure the long term health and development of their baby.

The First 1,000 Days cookery demonstrations with Neven Maguire are free of charge and will take place on the following dates and further events are planned for 2014:

  • ·         Wednesday 18th September, The Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2  at 11am
  • ·         Wednesday 2nd October, Hotel Meyrick, Eyre Square, Galway at 11am
  • ·         Monday 11th November, The Marker Hotel, Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2  at 7.30pm

As the ambassador for the First 1,000 Days movement, Neven will demonstrate how to cook a diverse range of dishes appropriate to the four key stages which make up the First 1,000 Days of life; pregnancy, breastfeeding, weaning and toddler.

Speaking about the demonstrations, Neven said, “As a father with a young family, I’m very much aware of the importance of nutrition during the first 1,000 days. From pregnancy right through to the toddler stage, it’s important that children are exposed to a wide range of foods so that their taste buds develop in a healthy way. Amelda and I know how hard it can be for families with young children to consistently provide the best nutrition in the first 1,000 days. I’d encourage everyone to come along to my demonstrations and discover just how easy it is to feed your family with the best and most nutritious foods – it really doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive!”

All attendees will receive a complimentary copy of the First 1,000 Days Recipe Booklet at each of these events and it is free to register.
