Royal College of Physicians of Ireland has launched a new lecture series, Caring for Your Health, aimed at the general public, which will include speakers Karl Henry leading personal trainer and Professor Donal O’Shea , Consultant Endocrinologist, St Vincents University Hospital. The Caring for Your Health series will commence on November 4th at RCPI, No. 6 Kildare St, and will run for four weeks with one hour lectures from 7pm – 8pm and a 30 minutes Q&A immediately afterwards.
The line-up of speakers includes some of Irelands leading experts in areas of exercise and fitness, mental health, cardiovascular disease and obesity. Speakers include; Karl Henry, Personal Trainer on November 4th, discussing exercise and fitness. Martin Quinn, Consultant Cardiologist, St Vincents University Hospital on November 11th will discuss cardiovascular disease, Professor Donal O’Shea, Consultant Endocrinologist, St Vincents University Hospital will speak on November 18th informing the public on all areas of obesity and on November 25th, Professor Paul Fearon, St Patricks University Hospital, Trinity College Dublin will discuss mental health issues.
The purpose of this initiative is to educate the public on common illnesses and measures that can be taken to improve health and well being in their daily lives. It is designed to equip participants with the knowledge they need to make informed decisions regarding their own health, focusing on many issues that affect the Irish population such as obesity, cardiovascular disease and mental health issues.
The Caring for your Health Series will continue in January with an exciting line up of speakers including medical and fitness experts discussing topics such as cancer, supplements and osteoporosis.
