Run 4 Jude 2013 will take place in Marlay Park on Sunday 15th September In aid of The Jude Miley Trust. Participants can complete the 5K or 10K fun run and may then run, sprint, jog, scuttle or scamper to the finish line. Jude’s parents are asking you to get out your walking shoes & take part in this fun event which will be kick-started at 1pm by MC Kathryn Thomas.
On the 16th July 2011 the stork arrived nine weeks early, delivering a very happy and healthy baby boy to proud parents Ann-Louise & Greville Miley. They named their little bundle of joy Jude Seamus Barry Miley. He lived a perfectly normal life until January 26th 2012 when a routine operation in Crumlin Children’s Hospital went severely wrong and caused Jude to suffer from cardiac arrest. It took doctors over 50 minutes to resuscitate little Jude. During this time his brain was deprived of vital oxygen which resulted in brain damage.
For the past few months, thanks to a massive fundraising effort Jude has been attending the leading brain injury rehabilitation hospital in the world – the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. Once told that their little boy might not walk, Ann-Louise & Greville were more than thrilled when Jude began to take a few steps thanks to intense physio at the Institute. In the near future Jude will once again travel to Chicago where he will require nursing care, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and speech therapy, extensive medical facilities which all require considerable funding.
Doctors once told Ann-Louise & Greville Miley that their beautiful baby boy would not be able breathe without the support of a life machine. Their little fighter just turned two and has defied the odds by crawling, walking and recently running on his own! This autumn get on the right track, rally the troops and enjoy taking part in Run 4 Jude 2013.
