Shiatsu Massage Foundation Course in Dublin Area

August 20, 2012 by newsdesk

Shiatsu massage is an ancient form of healing therapy that originates from Japan. It works on a far deeper level than western massage and is performed fully clothed, generally at ground level on a comfortable futon mattress. It is now available throughout Ireland and many people are discovering its wonderfully relaxing effects. It is an intensely relaxing experience and a perfect way to minimise stress, relax tense muscles and avoid the development of some longer term illnesses which may be caused by a continued state of stress. Many people enjoy a shiatsu massage simply in order to treat themselves to a deeply relaxing experience, while others have found it relieves symptoms including back, shoulder and neck pain, sciatica, hormonal imbalances, infertility, allergies, anxiety attacks, ME, MS, IBS, PMS, asthma, eczema, fatigue and many other conditions.

During a treatment the practitioner will seek to identify various areas of the body where there is either excess energy or a lack of energy. The practitioner works to reintroduce a balance of energy flow throughout the recievers body by working gently along the meridians. The meridians are the natural energy channels of the body which flow through the head, arms, body and legs. Gentle pressure is applied with the palms of the hands and thumbs, some acupressure points may be held for a few moments.  Joint manipulations and limb stretches may also be used during a treatment to assist the balancing of the body both physically and emotionally.

After a treatment recipients very often talk about experiencing an intense form of deep relaxation, it is in this state that the body begins to heal and balance itself. There may also be sensations of energy moving, pain leaving and muscle tension relaxing.

If you wish to learn more about Shiatsu why not consider attending an upcoming Foundation Course? The focus of the course will be on developing your own sensitivity and understanding of the body, discovering how imbalances arise and how they can be corrected. This foundation course provides good grounding in the healing art of Shiatsu for qualified massage therapists who wish to incorporate new techniques into their practice and for beginners who seek basic skills in Shiatsu for use amongst family and friends.
