Well known TV3 presenter Sinead Desmond swapped her early morning on Ireland AM for the beautiful surroundings of the historic Powerscourt Estate in Co. Wicklow to launch The Garden of Ireland 7K Run & 3K Walk, which takes place on Saturday 7th July 2012 at 5.30pm. All proceeds from the event will go to Bray Cancer Support Centre’s cancer programmes in Leinster.
Runners, joggers, walkers & families of all levels of fitness are welcome to join in this great evening in one of Ireland’s most well know tourist attractions.
Registration is open at www.runireland.com and 100% of the entry fee will go to Bray Cancer Support Centre’s cancer services in Wicklow & South Dublin.
The 7K Run will take in a scenic route which starts in the heart of Powerscourt Estate, and then heads up through the Lime Tree Avenue which runs through Powerscourt’s championship golf courses. From there the race follows the perimeter of the Estate, before returning into the Estate at Oonagh Bridge. The final section of the route takes the runners along the beautiful river walk, with the finish at the orchard in Powerscourt Estate.
The 7K Run is on an AAI approved course and will also be chip timed. For any sore bodies, DK Orthotics will be on site to provide post-race massage services for all participants.
As, well as the 7K run and 3K walk, there will be a post-race BBQ and family evening in the grounds of Powerscourt Estate. Family & friends are welcome to come and soak up the BBQ atmosphere and celebrate the achievements of the participants.
The event is proudly sponsored by CPI Foam LTD, The Wicklow Times, Amphibian King, DK Orthotics, Windsor Motors & Greenstar.
