Nottingham, United Kingdom, 30th June 2011 – Wattbike has today released two new models of its innovative indoor cycle trainer. The latest version of both the Trainer and Pro models now features drop handlebars and improved pedals allowing the rider to replicate their own road or triathlon bike setup to an even greater level of detail. The new Wattbike models also mark the start of a relationship with leading cycle equipment manufacturer, Giant Manufacturing Co. Ltd.
The new Wattbikes feature a drop handlebar with ergonomic bend for maximum comfort, dummy lever hoods and an integrated aerobar with armrests. Combined with the Wattbike’s impressive range of fore/aft and vertical positioning of the seat and handlebars, the rider is able to fine-tune their position to improve pedalling technique and maximise efficiency and performance on the bike. The new models also incorporate a revised double-sided pedal to cater for Shimano SPD and Look Keo cleats and a reverse flat pedal with toe clips. Riders are also able to fit their own standard saddle and pedals to the Wattbike to increase the quality of their focused indoor training sessions.
Alexis Dormandy, Chairman, Wattbike, said: “We are continually looking at ways to improve upon the athlete’s training experience. Feedback from elite cyclists and triathletes suggested that a revised handlebar setup would allow an even greater level of replication of their road setup and subsequently enable a higher level of quality training. We think this new handlebar will be of benefit to all of our customers, whether they are training for the Olympics, or a local sportive or triathlon.”
Dormandy added: “The new manufacturing relationship with Giant Manufacturing Co. Ltd ensures that the Wattbike will be made to rigorously high standards in the most efficient and modern facilities in the cycle industry worldwide. As our presence in the UK, Europe, Australia and the USA grows, it was important to have a manufacturing partner that could scale to meet demand without compromising the accuracy and integrity of the Wattbike. ”
The Wattbike mirrors the experience of riding a real bike, while enabling the user to monitor and record key performance parameters in real-time with an unrivalled level of accuracy. Capturing results to this level of detail encourages smarter training for the individual; allows each user to fine-tune their cycling technique; and to adhere to training programs that achieve performance, health or fitness goals with a minimum commitment of time.
The new drop handlebars and pedals are standard on all purchases of Trainer and Pro models via www.wattbike.com . The Wattbike Trainer and Pro are available now at a cost of £1,850 including free delivery.
