Celebrity Slim™ are delighted to launch their new ready to drink Wild Berry Smoothie (€2.99). The yoghurt based smoothie is packed with real fruit juice, full of flavour and provides an advanced protein formula to ensure consumers feel fuller for longer. It can be used, to replace a meal, just like the shakes, soups and bars, as part of the Celebrity Slim™ programme, or simply as a healthier lunch or breakfast. It’s convenient and is perfect for people on the go or with busy lifestyles.
Over 60% of under-65s in Ireland are classed as obese or overweight, according to The National Adult Nutrition Survey1. Celebrity Slim™ can now present evidence from a pilot study suggesting pharmacy based consultancy, utilitising partial meal replacement, can be a viable and effective way to lose weight and keep it off. The efficacy of the programme has recently been demonstrated through a 12-month weight management study (2010) conducted in conjunction with a UK pharmacy chain and a GP Practice. This study involved 72 patients and included a weight loss phase followed by a maintenance phase (both standard parts of the Celebrity Slim™ programme). To measure the effectiveness, participants attended a weekly weigh-in at a ‘drop in clinic’ to have their weight, blood pressure and waist size measured.
Excellent weight loss results were returned at 3, 6 and 12 months, with the average results showing a sustainable weight loss over a 12 month period of 3st 7lbs, resulting in a BMI drop of 7.5. 49% of the participants also successfully reduced their blood pressure readings, from high, into the normal range. It is estimated that over 28% of people in Ireland have high blood pressure and this is expected to rise a further 22% by 20202; the chances of having high blood pressure increase if you are overweight. If left untreated, high blood pressure increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke, making changes to your lifestyle and diet can lower your risk.
Celebrity Slim™ is a moderate carbohydrate diet and has been available in pharmacies throughout Ireland since 2007. Since launching into the UK market, in December 2008, one national pharmacy chain boasts a customers’ recorded weight loss to date of 6105 stone (April 2012). Over the past 9 years Celebrity Slim™ has been successfully used by thousands of people around the world to manage their weight. The programme promotes healthy and sustainable weight loss whilst educating its customers on the correct type and balance of foods they need to achieve this.
There is a wide range of support services available which cater for different needs. This includes a freephone telephone number, where trained consultants are available to answer any questions. An excellent online facility that includes an online members section and forum, both of which provide advice, recipes, snack ideas and allows customers to track their weekly weight loss and BMI readings. Pharmacy consultation in Ireland provides a FREE support structure, providing guidance, motivation and advice to all their customers on the programme. Celebrity Slim™ research shows that customers who regularly visit a pharmacy for weight loss
support achieve greater results than those who go it alone.
Celebrity Slim™ encourages setting realistic weight loss targets and can be an effective solution for most people, whether their target weight loss is 5 lbs or 5 stones. The Celebrity Slim™ programme is designed to help customers reach their target weight. Once there, they will be shown how to eat to maintain their new body and stay feeling their best. To succeed, they need to follow the programme, it’s worth the effort to look and feel fantastic.
