DANCEPL3Y classes inspire adults and kids to get fit and “sweat happy”

LET’S DANCE! DANCEPL3Y (dance-play) is an internationally recognized dance fitness program that uses a fusion of simple dance moves and playful group formations to inspire adults, kids and teens to get fit and feel confident through physical activity.

A Vancouver-based, internationally accredited dance fitness program, DANCEPL3Y inspires kids, teens and adults to get playful with dance. Developed by Physical Educator and Certified Fitness Expert, Melanie Guertin, M.Ed, DANCEPL3Y classes showcase a mix of dance styles ranging from Hip-Hop, Club, House, Latin, Jazz, Funk, Street, Krump and all genres in between. Each song is set to popular chart-topping music.

 

Based on the 3 Rules of PL3Y – Be Positive, Be Fun, Be Yourself – DANCEPL3Y is more than a dance class, it is a fun, confidence-boosting approach to physical activity.  Guertin explains: “These classes are designed to help people feel healthier and happier through movement and music. I don’t want people to just ‘have fun’ – I want them to ‘BE FUN’. I want these classes to inspire everyday people to become the best version of themselves.”

 

dancepl3y instructor courseSince 2014, Master Trainer Teresa Donohoe has worked to bring DANCEPL3Y to communities throughout Canada and more recently she has brought the program to Ireland in January 2015. Of her experience working with kids, youth leaders, and dance class participants, Donohoe said “I love seeing the expressions on peoples faces after a DANCEPL3Y class, especially the first timers. We go through so many different styles in any one class, so many different ways of moving your body that people surprise themselves that they can move in that way. Not only that, but confidence levels are heightened as they step outside of their comfort zones. The difference of my students on day 1 to the final day is just unbelievable, even I am surprised every time!” Donohoe also noted that the kids program brings a fun discovery of dance styles, fundamental movement skills and coordination skills.

DANCEPL3Y have two upcoming Instructor workshops for the Kids and Adults program in Letterkenny and Dublin over the summer months for anyone interested in bringing this high energy dance program to their area.
