The first Sprint Duathlon has been announced for the Hook Peninsula, following on from the extremely successful Triathlon of August 2011, the first Hook sprint duathlon will take place on March 18.
‘DU THE HOOK’ is a sprint duathlon which takes place on the Hook Peninsula, Co Wexford. Participants will run 3Km on Duncannon Beach followed by a 20km cycle around the Duncannon/Ramsgrange area with some incredible views of the Hook Peninsula.
The race will finish with a 3km run on Duncannon Beach with transition taking place in Duncannon Fort an imposing landmark on the entrance to Waterford harbour.
According to Rory O’Connor, Race Director “’DU THE HOOK’ is an ideal event for experienced athletes and first timers alike. Duncannon Beach offers a scenic run and the cycle course is mostly flat offering stunning views of the Peninsula’ and post run massages and showers will all be available on the day.”
The ‘DU the Hook’ duathlon is a Family Friendly event with fun fringe activities on offer for all the family including games on the beach for the kids and entertainment for the rest of the family. According to Rory organisers have put a lot of effort to make the day as inclusive as possible for all the family, allowing you to compete knowing your support team can have fun too!
