A Silly Run For a Serious Cause
5-mile run to help end homelessness
Event also features a Buggy Run, kids zone, live music
and lots of fun for all the family!
Dublin Simon Community’s 29th Annual Fun Run, which is the longest running charity event in the Phoenix Park, takes place this Saturday, October 6, 2012. Over 2500 people have already signed up ranging from school children to professional athletes.
This year’s Fun Run will be bigger and better than ever; with a 5-mile run, kids zone, entertainment, live music and goody bags. The Dublin Simon Community Fun Run, with free registration for kids under 12, is a colourful affair with spot prizes for the best costumes and face painting provided for both young and old. This year we are not only promising a great day out for runners but one of the best family day outs of the year!
Each year, the Fun Run raises vital funds which enable Dublin Simon Community to provide services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness:
- €25 will provide our Rough Sleeper Team with an emergency pack for someone sleeping on the streets. These packs include a back-pack with a built in sleeping mat, a sleeping bag and a rain jacket.
- €50 will provide a person with a bed, food and a place to spend a safe and secure night in one of our residential services.
- €100 could provide a home starter pack for those who are moving into their own home.
