On June 8th 2024, people across Ireland and around the World will come together for Global Wellness Day to raise awareness about the importance of living well. The idea ‘One Day can change your whole life’!
This year’s theme, MAGENTA NATURE, focuses on reconnecting with the nature and the environment.
Karin Müller, Ireland’s Global Wellness Day Ambassador, is excited to lead the charge. “Helping people reconnect with themselves and nature is something I’m truly passionate about,” says Karin, a staff midwife, mindfulness teacher and co-owner of Solaris Tea.
These FREE, not for profit community events are led by professionals in the Wellness Industry, from outdoor Yoga to herb walks and more, Global Wellness Day events across Ireland will provide enriching nature experiences.
The main celebration will be held in Galway on June 6th, 8th & 9th, with activities such as Foraging walks, talks on the Importance of the Native Irish Black Bee, Nature crafts for Kids, Mindfulness & Mind set workshops and dance & music in nature workshops. Other events are being held in Sligo and even across the boarder in Derry/ Londonderry.
“This year’s theme explores ways we can re-establish bonds with our natural environment,” explained Karin. “When we understand nature’s vital role and learn to value and protect it, we nurture our own wellbeing.” says the Irish Ambassador for GWD Karin Müller.
The event is powered by Solaris Tea who share a commitment to a balanced, healthy & sustainable lifestyle.
“We invite the community to join us in reconnecting with the restorative powers of nature,” says Master Tea Blender Jörg Müller.
Other proud partners include Galway City Council, Healthy Ireland and University Hospital of Galway, alongside an array of wellness companies around Ireland.
“It’s incredible how this MAGENTA NATURE theme can join people together. The involvement of so many local organizations and businesses really speaks to how Global Wellness Day resonates across our community,” said Karin.
University Hospital Galway is also hosting a range of wellness activities for GWD on June 6th to allow staff to experience the rejuvenating effects of nature connection & mindfulness practices. “We’re proud to support an initiative that aligns so well with our mission of holistic healthcare,” says Maeve Tonge Senior Social Worker, the Co-host of the events at the hospital, alongside GWD Ambassador Karin Müller. “Interacting with the natural world has proven benefits for healing and reducing stress.”
Healthy Ireland in UHG has also come on board, seeing Global Wellness Day as an opportunity to educate about preventative wellness and healthy lifestyle, as well as incorporating art and music for mental wellbeing.
With such enthusiastic cross-sector collaboration, Global Wellness Day 2024 is shaping up to be a fantastic celebration of nature connection in Galway and further afield.
