Jason Smyth Launches #MayFest24

May 2, 2024 by LifeandFitness

Vision Sports Ireland are thrilled to announce the launch of MayFest 2024. MayFest is Vision Sports Ireland’s muti-sport extravaganza weekend, packed with ‘come-and-try’ opportunities, competition and demo sport events for people who are blind or vision impaired, and their family and friends. This year, MayFest will take place in Dublin on the weekend of 25th – 26th May.

This year marks the 43rd instalment of MayFest which began in 1981 and Vision Sports Ireland are excited to announce a jampacked timetable of sports and activities for our members to enjoy. There will be something for everyone at this year’s event with athletics, karate, rugby, rock climbing, tennis, football and swimming to name a few, all held in UCD on Saturday 25th May.

After the day of activities we will retire to the Talbot Hotel in Stillorgan for a social meet up where everyone is invited to unwind and catch up with food and music provided.

On Sunday it’s another busy day with event HQ at Stackstown golf course where a come and try golf session will take place before participants can choose between nature mindfulness at Marley Park or attending our family fun event in Explorium.

Six time Paralympic gold medalist, and recent Dancing with the Stars winner, Jason Smyth stated ”MayFest was where it all began for me with it being my first step in Para Sport at the 2005 MayFest event. It’s wonderful that in its 43rd year the event is still bringing the vision impaired community together through sport and physical activity. I encourage people of all ages and abilities to join us on Saturday May 25th at UCD Sports Complex for a weekend of fun, activity and sport.”

Tickets are now on sale. A full list of all the events and activities planned can be found at MayFest – Vision Sports Ireland
