Those who might want to take a break from a busy festival-filled summer will love the opportunity to check in and recharge at ‘Restival’ Mount Congreve Garden’s annual wellness weekend on August 10th and 11th 2024.
The two-day health and wellbeing event in the gorgeous 70 acres of gardens and woodland will be filled with guided yoga and pilates classes plus guided Shinrin-yoku forest bathing walks along with health and wellness talks from industry experts.
Each day will commence with a variety of yoga and Pilates classes available across the beautiful lawns along with guided Forest Bathing walks through the woodlands and into the depths of the 70-acre gardens.
Multi-award-winning garden designer Diarmuid Gavin will also take to the stage at the festival and speak about the importance of enjoying time in the garden for your health and well-being.
Aisling Larkin will host a talk and a demo about Modern Food for Wellness: Food and eating, delving into the concept of flexitarian eating, blue zone living, smart ingredients that support our wellness, how MBSR mindful-based techniques can allow us to dismantle and rebuild positive relationships with food, and hormone hacking for her DOSE strategy for wellness.
Expert in Lifestyle Medicine GP, Dr. Mark Rowe will lead the Forest Bathing Walks through the magnificent woodland canopy at Mount Congreve Gardens. Shinrin-yoku is the medicine of simply being within the forest. Forest bathing was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a cornerstone of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine and is proven to lower the heart rate and blood pressure, reduce the stress hormone, boost the immune system and improve overall feelings of wellbeing.
Holistic sleep coach Dr Miriam Liston, PhD will lead a talk on Sleep Hygiene and how to get the best out of rest. Miriam’s work sees her supporting families with sleep and establishing balanced lifestyles. With a background in education and academia, the arrival of Miriam’s three children in close succession led her to the world of sleep, where she specialises in a gentle and responsive approach. With an elite sports background, which includes representing Ireland in basketball and football, Miriam has a unique perspective on how sleep can enable a more balanced and fulfilled lifestyle, driving her passion to educate on sleep biology, sleep hygiene, sleep strategies and the role of regulation on sleep.
The experts from FOXFORD will also be on hand to assist with planning a bedroom as the perfect sanctuary. An abundance of fresh and local produce will be on offer from Mount Congreve’s own Stables Café by The Pantry at CLIFF.
Tickets to ‘Restival’ also include access to the magnificent ticket-only gardens and woodland walks. The gardens at Mount Congreve consist of around seventy acres of intensively planted woodland garden, including a four-acre walled garden. The woodland garden has features such as a Chinese Pagoda, ponds, a temple and much more. The entire collection of plants is one of the largest in Ireland, quite simply, the gardens are amazing.
Daily and Weekend tickets to the adult-only ‘Restival’ at Mount Congreve Gardens in County Waterford are now available at €39 per day or €57 per person for a weekend ticket at www.mountcongreve.com.
