The toughest downhill mountain bike race in the world takes place this weekend in Tasmania.
Irishman Ronan Dunne is on the hunt for a third consecutive Red Bull Hardline title in Tasmania this weekend. The 22 year old Wicklow native has taken the downhill world by storm and will be up against the world’s best mountain bikers at Maydena Bike Park, with the action getting underway this Friday.

It was Dunne’s victory at Red Bull Hardline in February 2024 which catapulted him to the top of the biking world and made him one of the biggest names in the sport. He followed that up with a second Hardline title and course record at the series’ home event in Wales in June, cementing a whirlwind year for the Red Bull athlete which also saw him win a UCI Mountain Bike World Cup event in May.
The man from Enniskerry will face stiff competition this weekend from some of the most talented riders in downhill; Welsh biking legend Gee Atherton, three-time Hardline winner Bernard Kerr, and 2022 champion and youngest ever winner Jackson Goldstone to name but a few.
The competition, in its second year in Tasmania, will be streamed live on Red Bull TV. The action gets underway on Friday, with the final round streamed live on Saturday at 3am Irish time.
Dunne will be appearing on special preview episode of the Red Bull Just Ride podcast which will be released later on today, available on the podcast’s YouTube channel.
