The Everest Endeavor is pleased to announce its partnership with Sunskis and Ian Taylor Trekking for their second climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Kyle Bingham and his Everest Endeavor alongside Ian Taylor Trekking are inviting 10 climbers to come with on a 7 day Mt. Kilimanjaro climb as well as a 3 day safari July 14-23rd 2014. With additional support from Sunskis Sunglasses, the group will aim to raise over $19,000 to benefit the Children’s Cancer Association.
The Climb and safari from July 14th to the 23rd is open to the public and offers a once in a lifetime experience. From the magical snows on the roof of Africa to wild Lions on the plains of the Serengeti climbers will feel the true wild of Africa. The climb is a non technical “trek” requiring no previous climbing experience and is an appropriate challenge for the average day hiker.
Trip cost is $4550 including all land costs once in Africa and will be conducted by Ian Taylor Trekking. Cost covers transportation, hotel, mountain and safari guides as well as food and some equipment and gear. Space is limited and filling quickly. www.everestendeavor.com/
About the Everest Endeavor
As the ultimate test of physical and mental ability, Mt. Everest is the pinnacle of mountaineering. While many have tried, fewer than 6,000 people have ever stood on the summit. Climbing the highest mountain in the world is about more than just a great view. It’s about showing others that the ordinary can be extraordinary and that each of us have it within to conquer any mountain.
Kyle Bingham’s Everest Endeavor, based on Camano Island, is a four year journey and an adventure to prove just that. Climbing five world class mountains on the way to Mt. Everest, Kyle will inspire others to push the limits of what they think they are capable of enduring. Much like the daily journey faced by kids and teens served by the CCA.
Kyle and the Everest Endeavor are committing to raise $1 for every foot of accumulative elevation of Denali (Mt. McKinley) 20,237ft, Mt. Kilimanjaro 19,341ft, Mt. Rainier 14,411ft, Cho Oyu 26,906ft and Mt. Everest 29,029ft. Totaling nearly $110,000, all donations will go to the Children’s Cancer Association based in Portland, OR delivering JoyRx to kids and teens with serious illnesses across the nation. More information and donations can be made at www.everestendeavor.com and www.joyrx.org.
About the Children’s Cancer Association
The Children’s Cancer Association (CCA) is a national leader prescribing free, innovative programs of JoyRx and has connected hundreds of thousands of children, teens, and their family members with the power of hope, comfort, and happiness during the last two decades.
CCA didn’t start with a foundation, it started with a family. One who faced its own battle with serious pediatric illness in Portland, Oregon. From that experience came a passionate focus on the moment, and a commitment to deliver immediate help to kids and teens when their need is the greatest.
CCA prescribes joy. Because they know in the fight against devastating illness, joy is often forgotten and something every child deserves. When seriously ill children, teens and their families need more than medicine, CCA’s innovative programs create joy one moment at a time. www.joyrx.org
About Sunskis
Inspired by a shoestring budget surf trip on the Australian coast in 2009, founder Tom Stewart partnered with his friend, Michael Charley, to create a brand that could capture their love for the outdoors and help enable everybody to get outside and play in an environmentally conscious way.
Through quality product design using sustainable and waste-reducing materials, as well as proactive support of environmental projects through 1% For the Planet, they do their part to help preserve nature for everybody to enjoy.
Using the popular crowdfunding website, Kickstarter, Tom and Michael were able to to bring their first product, the Sunskis, to life in 2012. With an initial goal of $9,800 in less than a month, they pre-sold over 6000 pairs of Sunskis Sunglasses and raised $157,000. Since delivering the original Sunskis to their Kickstarter backers in December of 2012, the company has grown and now offers several stylish options for the beach, mountains or anywhere the sun is out. www.sunskis.com
