Runners preparing to take part in this year’s annual Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running will be offered top tips from industry professionals in the lead up to the event.
Three training events will be organised by Run 4 It and Brooks, two of the event’s sponsors, which will feature a range of activities and demonstrations designed to help runners maximise their potential during their run along the iconic lochside onSunday 27 September.
Experts from Brooks will lead a special training run packed with insider hints and tips, as well as providing advice on the best kit and shoes available. Attendees will also receive a Run Happy goody bag which includes Brooks merchandise.
The events will be held in the Run 4 It shop in Inverness on the evening of Wednesday 19 August and during the day onSaturday 5 September. A further session will take place in the week before the event, on Wednesday 23 September.
Race director Malcolm Sutherland says, “Good preparation is the key to success in any running event. Ensuring you have undertaken the necessary training and have all the appropriate equipment and nutrition is vital for a good race. The expert advice on offer from Run 4 It and Brooks will be invaluable to runners who are looking for that extra edge on the big day.
“There is still time to enter the Baxters River Ness 10K and 5K Fun Run, and the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon via club or charity spaces, so anyone that is considering entering should come along to one of the earlier training events to test the waters.”
The Baxters Loch Ness Marathon and Festival of Running takes place on 27 September and comprises the marathon, River Ness 10K, 10K Corporate Challenge and River Ness 5K as well the Wee Nessie fun run for pre-school children.
Spectators will also be spoilt for choice at the Event Hub in Inverness’ Bught Park, where they can cheer their loved ones across the finish line and enjoy the Baxters Food and Drink Fayre, a sports expo, live music and activities for children.
Entry for the Baxters River Ness 10K, 10K Corporate Challenge, 5K Fun Run and Wee Nessie is open until 7 September. Club, charity and overseas places are also still available for the Baxters Loch Ness Marathon.
