Amatsu is a Japanese osteopathic therapy for musculo-skeletal disorders that focuses on spinal and skeletal misalignment. A highly effective treatment, it works by gently manipulating ligaments and muscular skeletal systems and removing the foundation or root cause of pain which can be often long term and chronic.
This method of aligning the muscular skeletal system has evolved over a period of 3,000 years, influenced by Chinese, Korean and other Oriental sciences and philosophies. It has grown into its present form through research and hundreds of thousands of clinical hours.
Amatsu can be used to treat many musculo-skeletal and lifestyle related conditions and to aid the restoration of well being and good health (see the list below) .
Bernie Traynor of the Dublin Naturopathy Clinic carries out pelvic alignment checks as part of Deep Tissue Massage treatment and finds that almost all clients presenting with long term pain have pelvic misalignment to varying degrees. While massage may benefit and alleviate the condition, it does not always address the root cause and Bernie feels that referral to Amatsu will have a greater outcome for such clients.
In addition, a lot of what Therapists and Bodyworkers deal with are secondary injuries, for example, a broken ankle will be successfully repaired, but in the mean time, an out-of-aligment pelvis has meant additional postural compensation during recovery so that the person develops a back/neck/shoulder problem which brings with it greater pain for a much longer period. Our resident Amatsu Therapist at the Dublin Naturopathy Clinic, Younis, works predominantly with people who suffer from back pain, joint pain and sports injuries, but also finds this treatment successful in dealing with arthritis (both osteo and rheumatoid). It is a common statement that the structure of the body will determine how it functions, and as a structural therapy Amatsu has also had success in dealing with digestive complaints, headaches and migraines, colic in babies, and indeed, problems linked to menstruation.
