The Wings for Life World Run will take place for the second consecutive year in Ireland on May 3rd 2015 at 12pm. Wings for Life is a charity that raises funds for research projects dedicated to finding a cure for spinal cord injury. 100 percent of the €20 entry fees will go directly to funding this research.
Last year the race took place in the beautiful Ring of Kerry, and this year it will be take place in picturesque Dún Laoghaire. And for the first time, wheelchair users and runners will compete side by side in one race.
The event concept is unique in many ways:
- First and foremost there is no finish line. Thirty minutes after the start (at 12.30pm Irish time) a catcher car sets off at each location. As long as runners stay in front of this car, they stay in the race. Once one is passed by the catcher car, his race is over. This continues until there’s a single man and single woman left running.
- The event is global. Thousands of competitors across 6 continents, 33 countries and 35 locations will be taking part and will all be starting at the exact same time, day or night.
