Life is a Workout…especially if you are a new mum. The demands on a woman’s body post-delivery are immense and so many women put fitness off their ‘to do’ list when baby is born. A fit body and mind is of huge benefit to a new mum in order to cope with lack of sleep, sore backs and weakened muscles.
This isn’t about mums getting bikini-ready
Anna Frankland, Creator of ‘Postnatal Pilates by Reform Apps’, has designed short manageable workouts that will help build self-esteem and increase energy levels. Each of the App workouts contain a series of specific exercises designed to gently build deep abdominal and lower back strength and assist with recovery from pregnancy and childbirth. Some App exercises target your bum and belly while others work towards strengthening your legs and lower back while at the same time releasing tight muscles.
Anna says, “I know many of our clients take 15 minutes and lie beside the baby’s cot while they are going to sleep in order to have some ‘me’ time. This isn’t about mums getting bikini-ready; it is about re-building body confidence and re-gaining a strong body to copy with the physical demands of looking after a baby.”
Designed by a Mum for Mums
Each workout consists of a series of floor exercises that can be completed anytime, anywhere, with or without your baby and without any special equipment. You can choose a workout from any of the Postnatal Apps that fits with your lifestyle and your goals and enjoy dedicating time to yourself.
There are 3 Apps:
- · The first is recommended for those 6-weeks post-delivery or 10 weeks post-delivery if you have had a C-section
- · The second is for those who are at least four months post-delivery
- · The third has it all, including six workouts and 27 exercises.
Features of the Postnatal Pilates by Reform App include:
- · A range of 15-20 minute workouts to choose from with high definition images and video demonstrations
- · Workouts containing specific exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles to reduce incidences of related medical conditions and strengthen the deep abdominals
- · Safe workouts for those with a separation of the abdominal wall (diastasis recti)
- · Play-all feature allows you to run through all the video exercises at your own pace
About Anna Frankland
Anna first discovered Pilates in Sydney when recovering from an injury sustained from triathlon training six years ago. Prior to her discovery she spent most of her time training and competing in triathlons at a national and international level. Anna believes that had she found Pilates sooner it could have greatly helped to prevent the many injuries which resulted in her having to take time off from training. Since then, Anna has practiced Pilates on a frequent basis including up until the week before the birth of her twin girls. She believes that it greatly assisted with her postnatal recovery and has given her the energy she has needed to keep up with them as toddlers.
