Nikki Darrell (M.B.S., B.Sc.(Hons), M.N.I.M.H, M.C.P.P., M.I.M.H.O) is a botanist, medical herbalist and aromatherapist who has spent over 30 years researching and working with plants and their connection with people, especially as medicines and foods . She will be presenting a seminar in Cork (with CNM on April 15th) which will provide safe and practical knowledge on how to use traditional herbal remedies for the whole family.
Creating your own herbal pharmacy at home can be simple once you know where to start. This evening seminar will introduce you to the possibilities that already exist in your kitchen and how to build on these for simple but effective remedies. This seminar will explore the traditional use of herbs and the emerging scientific evidence base.
The seminar will include:
- Understanding the history of herbs and how to use them safely.
- Learning about Herbs to cleanse and detoxify the body
- Using Kitchen herbs as medicines; many of the herbs that we use for flavourings have amazing therapeutic effects such as garlic for cholesterol, heart health and infections, thyme for colds and flus, rosemary and ginger for circulation, chamomile and lavender to improve sleep, peppermint and chamomile for gastric upsets
- Herbs for common ailments e.g. colds and flus, cystitis, arthritis, cholesterol, insomnia, and many other conditions

She is chair of the Irish Medical Herbalists Organisation and a member of the IMB Herbal Sub-committee.
