October is National Try a Dive month where members of the public are invited to try out scuba diving in the safety of a pool under expert instruction with diving clubs nationwide that are affiliated with the Irish Underwater Council (www.diving.ie).
Have you ever watched a documentary on life beneath the seas and wondered what it would be like to see it first hand? Have you ever wanted to try our Scuba Diving or Snorkelling but were unsure where to go or if you would like it?
Are you a qualified diver but want to be part of Ireland’s largest diving community?
Well why not turn up to an open evening and see all the advantages that come with being part of a diving club.
During the month of October, Diving Clubs nationwide will be offering Try A Dive, Snorkel and club open nights and all you have to do is give them a call and turn up. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary for the Try A Dive , but you need to be in reasonable physical health.
What happens at a Try a Dive night?
Our friendly and qualified members will meet and greet you at the pool. From there they will take you through all the equipment and ensure that you are happy and comfortable to continue. You will be taken on a one to one basis into the pool starting in the shallow end. Only when you’re ready will you take your first breath underwater in the safety and comfort of the swimming pool. We have no doubt you will quickly feel at ease and swimming like a fish by the end of the session.
Do I have to sign up to a course to attend the Try A Dive night?
No. The Try-A-Dive night is a no obligation opportunity for you to try out the sport. Should you like it (and we are sure you will !!) you can then proceed to enrol in the next available course.
Is it too late in the year to start ??
No, October is the perfect time of year to begin training. We pride ourselves on our safety record and thoroughness of our training. For that reason most of our clubs begin training in October to ensure that over the Winter, new trainees are given ample time to master the skills and confidence from the safety of the pool. Come the new year you will then be ready to start your new adventure in the sea!
Do I Need to be Fit?
As Diving and Snorkeling are water sports you do need to be able to swim however you don’t need to be an Olympic athlete, just a length or two and you will be able to start training.
Can I Snorkel with CFT?
