– HSE and An Garda Síochána to also address free event
Clare’s All-Ireland winning hurling boss Davy Fitzgerald will be amongst the speakers at a seminar entitled “Looking after your Mental and Physical Health” taking place at the Millennium Theatre, Limerick Institute of Technology today (Tuesday, 04 March 2014).
Primarily aimed at 16 to 19 year olds, the free event is the result of an innovative and productive partnership between the Mid West Regional Drugs Task Force (MWRDTF), Limerick Sports Partnership and Limerick Institute of Technology.
There will be two strands to the year’s seminar with a schools seminar from 10am to midday and a second seminar aimed at over 18’s taking place from 1-3pm.
Speakers lined up to address the event include Davy Fitzgerald (Clare Senior Hurling Manager – speaking at11.15am & 1.00pm), Dr. Sancha Power (Substance Misuse Education Officer for Post Primary Schools, MWRDTF), Bernie Carroll (Resource Officer for Suicide Prevention at Health Service Executive) and Sergeant Sandra Heelan (An Garda Síochána member based in Ennis, formerly of the Henry Street Drugs Unit in Limerick).
More than 350 people from local schools and colleges are expected to attend today’s seminar.
